The North American Aviation P-51 Mustang is an American long-range, single-seat fighter and fighter-bomber used during World War II. Rolls-Royce, Merlin 61 had a two-speed, two-stage, intercooled supercharger, designed by Stanley Hooker of Rolls-Royce, the Merlin 61 engines were capable of about 1,570 horsepower.
